We're moving all Experiences merchants to V3 by the end of 2026, at no cost to you. This article covers what's improving, what stays the same, and what to check once your store has moved.
Upgrades to software typically happen without notice. This one is a bigger-than-usual update, and so there are a few things to consider.
What's better in V3
Faster. The admin and booking widgets load and respond more quickly, so you and your customers spend less time waiting.
Easier to use. We redesigned the admin so it's simpler to find what you need and set up experiences.
A new calendar and list view. It replaces the previous embedded calendar for showing all your experiences in one place.
Refreshed email templates. You can customize confirmation and reminder emails for each experience.
Booking details in customer accounts. Customers can see their bookings in their Shopify customer account.
What stays the same
Shopify POS. The Experiences POS app works just as it does today. Your staff don't need to change anything.
Your experiences and bookings. These move over with your store.
Your pricing. Experiences still charges your customers no booking or convenience fees.
Note: As of Wednesday, October 14th, there are a few things that are in the process of being completed in the new version of the app:
Product add-ons will not work, so any customer that is currently using those, we will not migrate until that functionality is done.
Webhooks, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, and Zapier will work for customers who already have that set up, but no changes can be made. We are rebuilding those connections to make them more efficient
What to check after you move
1. Connect your check-in devices again
After your store moves to V3, anyone using the Experiences Check-In app on a phone or tablet will see this message when they open it:
"Store upgraded. This store has been upgraded to the new version of Experiences. Please contact the store owner to authorize this device."
Nothing is broken. It means the device needs to be connected to your store again. Your staff, vendors, and helpers can't do this themselves. The store owner or an admin has to do it:
In Experiences, go to Settings > Access and add the device.
On the phone or tablet, open the Check-In app and tap Scan login QR code. Scan the QR code from Settings, or open the magic link on the device instead.
Tip: Once your store is migrated, connect every device before your next event, so no one sees this message at the door with guests waiting.
2. Check any custom CSS
If you or a developer added custom styles to the booking widget, they may not carry over, because V3 widgets use a new styling system. Look over your Book Now button and calendar after the move. If something looks off, message us and we'll help you restyle it.
3. Place a test booking
Book through your storefront once to confirm everything looks and works the way you expect.
Questions?
Message us anytime from inside the app. We're happy to help with the move.
