Overview: Why Use Direct Booking Links?
Standard booking flows usually require a customer to visit a Product Detail Page (PDP) before they can click "Book" to see your availability. By using a Direct Booking Link, you can bypass that first step and drop your customers straight onto the date and time picker.
This is an excellent tool for reducing friction in your sales funnel—whether you are linking from a "Book Now" button on your homepage, a promotional email, or a social media "Link in Bio," getting your customers to the calendar faster leads to higher conversion rates.
How to Create a "Book Now" Direct Link
You can create custom buttons or links on your website that let customers skip the first page of the booking process (the Product Detail Page) and go directly to the date-and-time selection step.
This is perfect for "Book Now" buttons on your homepage or specialized landing pages where you want to reduce friction for your guests.
The Magic Parameter
To enable this, you simply need to add a small snippet of text (a query parameter) to the end of your standard Shopify product URL:
?booknow=true
Step-by-Step Instructions
Locate your Product URL:
Go to your Shopify Admin or your live storefront and copy the URL for the experience you want to link to.
Append the Parameter:
Add
?booknow=trueto the very end of that URL.Update your Buttons:
In the Shopify Theme Editor (or your page builder), select the button or link you’d like to change. Paste your new modified URL into the link field and save your changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this change how my normal product page works?
No. If a customer visits your product page normally (without the added code at the end of the URL), the booking process will function exactly as it always has. This only triggers the "skip" behavior when the specific link is used.
Can I use this for any product?
Yes! This works for any Shopify product currently using the Experiences booking widget (v2).
What if my URL already has a question mark in it?
If your URL already contains a ?, you should use &booknow=true instead at the end of your URL. However, for most standard Shopify product links, the ?booknow=true format provided above will work perfectly.
Ways to Use Direct Booking Links
1. High-Conversion Homepage Buttons
Instead of sending users from your homepage to a product page where they have to click "Book" again, create a "Reserve Your Spot" button directly on your homepage hero section.
The Benefit: It removes one full step (and one full page load) from the customer journey, reducing the "drop-off" rate for your most popular experiences.
2. Email Marketing & Newsletters
When sending out a promotional email via Klaviyo or Mailchimp, use the direct link for the "Book Now" button in the email.
The Benefit: Since the customer has already read the description in your email, they don't need to see the product description again. Sending them straight to the calendar makes the transition from "reading" to "buying" feel seamless.
3. Social Media "Link in Bio"
If you use a tool like Linktree or have a "Link in Bio" page on Instagram, use the direct booking URL for your upcoming workshops or tours.
The Benefit: Mobile users have shorter attention spans and often slower connections. Bypassing the initial product page ensures they get to the checkout calendar faster, which is critical for capturing impulsive social media sales.
4. "Gift This Experience" Buttons
If you have a dedicated landing page explaining how your gift cards or experience vouchers work, you can place "Book Using a Voucher" buttons that skip the fluff and go straight to the scheduling step.
The Benefit: It provides a "utility" feel for returning customers or voucher holders who already know what they want and just want to pick a date.
