Currently, our application only allows you to create experiences less than 24 hours in duration. We did this on purpose for our initial launch but are considering ways we can change the admin and customer user experience to allow for merchants who provide multi-day types of events.

In the meantime, there's a simple way to sell multi-day experiences by understanding the following things:

  • You need to do a small tweak to the template we install for you to hide the duration component.
  • You need to clearly describe the length of your event in the content area of your Experiences listing.
  • You need to understand that the time duration you set when you create the multi-day Experience listing will not apply to your customer's actual experience with you.

Step 1: Create your multi-day experience

This step is straightforward. Simply create the experience you want and don't worry about the time duration, you're going to hide it on the actual listing. Make sure you put something like, "This is a 3-day hike" or "This is a three day class. You will be in our store between 9am and 1pm each day."

Step 2: Edit the Experiences template code

Here's an article that talks about editing the template in general.

In this case we're going to make a really simple change. Assuming your template hasn't been edited much yet, you're going to make a change starting on line 74 (or thereabouts). Find this section of code:

<div class="product__display-grid__infobox">
        <h3 class="product__display-grid__header">Duration:</h3>
        <span class="product__display-grid__text">
          {% if durationHours != 0 %}
          {{ durationHours }}h
          {% endif %}
          {% if durationMinutes != 0 %}
          {{ durationMinutes }}min
          {% endif %}
        </span>
      </div>

And replace it with:

{% comment %}
      <div class="product__display-grid__infobox">
        <h3 class="product__display-grid__header">Duration:</h3>
        <span class="product__display-grid__text">
          {% if durationHours != 0 %}
          {{ durationHours }}h
          {% endif %}
          {% if durationMinutes != 0 %}
          {{ durationMinutes }}min
          {% endif %}
        </span>
      </div>
    {% endcomment %}

 You'll notice the only difference is the comment and endcomment opening and closing tags.

{% comment %}

All that code stuff in-between that was already there

{% endcomment %}

When you visit any one of your Experiences listings, you'll now notice that the Duration detail is now hidden.
